In my earlier post, I spoke about making your own Fall Room Sprays Using Essential Oils that are evocative of this season, but you don’t have to restrict yourself to those ideas.
If you are looking for more ways to use all your favorite fall essential oils, making your own home and beauty products is a great way to start. You can make your own blends using fall essential oils and a few other ingredients that are easily available in most home kitchens.
What’s particularly great about these 3 projects mentioned below is that they are super easy and have plenty of room for customization. Of course, there’s the fact that they smell fabulous too.
I’ve added a few ideas for customization below, so go ahead and have some fun.
Ahh… candles. Who doesn’t love scented candles? They are great any time of the year, and especially during fall. Their flickering glow and lovely aromas make you feel warm and cozy all over. Making your own scented candles with fall essential oils takes it to another level.
The great thing about making your own scented candles is that you can combine different scents to get unique aromas, or keep it simple and use only one scent with each candle.
How to make your own fall-scented candles
For high-quality candles, you must start with a good base, which can be either beeswax or soy flakes.
The easiest way to make your own candles is to buy a candle-making kit online. Amazon has some fantastic kits at very reasonable prices.
This 100% Soy Wax Candle Making Kit has everything you need to make 12 candles in tins.
If you prefer beeswax candles, check out this Beeswax Candle Kit, which includes 10 full-size, 100% beeswax honeycomb sheets.
Both of these sets are user-friendly with complete instructions on how to make your own candles.
While looking around for great candle-making starter kits, I came across one that’s ideal for the season – the Autumn Beeswax Candle Rolling Kit By Magic Cabin. With this set, you get twelve 8” sheets of beeswax in autumnal colors.
All you need to do is add your preferred essential oils to the candles. Some fall essential oils to use in your candles are clove, ginger, cinnamon, and vanilla.
See the full list of fall essential oils below. Choose any combination of fall scents that you prefer, experimenting with different combinations.
Light your homemade scented candles in your bathroom, kitchen, or living room to create a cozy ambiance to any room. Make a few extra and give them away as gifts.
Something to think about: Homemade fall-scented candles are the perfect hostess gift to bring to Thanksgiving dinner.
DIY Pumpkin-Spice Scented Body Scrub
Making your own body scrub is another great project using a specific fall essential oil blend.
This DIY body scrub smells just like pumpkin pie or pumpkin spice lattes. What’s not to like about that!
The aroma is achieved by adding a few drops of pumpkin spice essential oil blend into your home-made body scrub.
How to make this DIY Pumpkin-Spice Body Scrub
Take 2 tablespoons of white table sugar.
Melt 1 teaspoon coconut oil and add it to the sugar.
Add 2 drops pumpkin spice essential oil blend. (You can make your own using this recipe for homemade pumpkin spice essential oil blend.)
Mix it together and rub it gently all over your body just like any other body scrub.
This is an excellent, all-natural scrub that helps get rid of dead skin cells, leaving your skin feeling soft and smooth.
DIY Apple Bath Salts
These aren’t just apple-scented bath salts, but they smell just like freshly-baked apple pie!
They are wonderful to use in your bath for a little natural exfoliation and to relax and unwind after a long day.
You want to start with Epsom salt, then add in your scents. You can combine apple and cinnamon scents on your own, or just get apple pie blends that are already mixed.
Mix it all together and store in a glass jar. Use it in your bath as and when you want.
Ideas for Customizing your DIY Candles, Body Scrub & Bath Salts
The beauty of all of the above DIY projects is that you can customize any of them by simply adding a drop or two of your preferred essential oil.
If you want to recreate the aromas of the fall season, these are some of the essential oils you may want to consider. All of these are perfect for this season.
