Thanksgiving diffuser blends reflect the spirit of the season – gratitude, appreciation, and time spent with loved ones.
While these values are certainly not restricted to just this time of the year, we pay special attention to them during Thanksgiving. I was first introduced to the traditions of Thanksgiving several years ago while visiting family in California. I loved the idea and have celebrated it every year since then even though I don’t live in the U.S.
Yes, I do the full 9 yards in my home, from the decorations to the traditional turkey dinner. The one thing I add to elevate the ambiance is diffusing Thanksgiving essential oil blends. This helps create a wonderfully welcoming and comforting atmosphere in my home, making the season even more special.
There are several Thanksgiving diffuser blends you can choose from.
Experiment with different recipes to determine which one you like best. Or choose a recipe based on the oils you have at home. Whichever option you choose, you won’t be disappointed. All of these Thanksgiving diffuser blends smell amazing!
Best Thanksgiving Essential Oils
The best Thanksgiving essential oils belong to the spicy aroma family. These oils have a warm and cozy aroma that’s ideal during the colder months of fall and winter.
As you’ll see in the recipes below, most Thanksgiving diffuser blends contain at least one if not more essential oil from the spicy aroma family. The most popular are Cinnamon, Clove, Ginger, and Nutmeg.
Essential oils from the citrus aroma family are another important component in most Thanksgiving diffuser blends. Their sharp, refreshing aroma cuts through the warm, spicy aroma and gives the blend a playful note so it doesn’t feel too sober or stark.
Citrus essential oils are used sparingly so they add subtle citrusy notes without overshadowing the spicy scents. Sweet Orange, Bergamot, Lemon, and Tangerine are the most commonly used citrus oils during this season.
Another popular addition in many Thanksgiving diffuser blends is essential oils from the woody family, particularly Fir, Pine, Juniper Berry, and Cedarwood. These essential oils are typically used in blends formulated for occasions celebrated during Fall and Christmas. They have a refreshing, woody aroma that adds an outdoorsy note to the blend.
From the floral aroma family, only Lavender and Geranium essential oils are used to create Thanksgiving diffuser blends. Both of these floral essential oils have lighter aromas that add a subtle, almost undetectable sweetness to the blend.
Myrrh, Frankincense, and Mint may also be used in some Thanksgiving blends.

How to use Thanksgiving Essential Oil Blends
Let’s start with adding them to your diffuser. Use a diffuser for large rooms, especially on Thanksgiving Day when family and friends gather together. You want all your guests to feel embraced by the welcoming warmth of the wonderful aromas. With a smaller diffuser, the scent will go unnoticed in a large room.
If you’re having a small get-together, one of these smaller diffusers will work fine. Alternatively, make your own reed diffuser to use with your Gratitude blends.
