How many times have you desperately needed to refresh the air in a room only to discover you were out of spray?
Maybe dinner burned and left its smell or your teenager left weeks’ old dirty socks under the sofa?
Of course, you don’t want to fill your home with those store-bought fresheners that are filled with who-knows-what chemicals.
One way to always be prepared is to keep a bottle of homemade room freshener made with essential oils on hand. What you’ll love most about making your own blend is creating a scent that is uniquely your own. Also you’ll know exactly what ingredients are in them.
Making a room freshener spray is quite simple. You’ll need a few easy to find ingredients and a good container to put it in. A nice glass spray bottle keeps you away from the chemicals in plastic.
How To Make Your Own Room Freshener with Essential Oils
What you’ll need to make room freshener with essential oils:
- Spray Bottle
- 1/2 cup Distilled Water
- 1 /2 cup Rubbing Alcohol (at least 90% )
- 15-25 drops of Essential oils of your choice (lavender, lemongrass, ylang-ylang or any other you prefer)
Begin by combining the water and alcohol in your container.
Add 15 or so drops of essential oil.
Shake the mixture.
You can always add more drops of essential oil if the scent is not strong enough.
Note: the alcohol will help the spray evaporate more quickly, but some surfaces may be damp for a minute or so after spraying.
