Wouldn’t you love to infuse your home with these distinctive Christmas scents during this wonderful season? You can even go an extra step and scent all your DIY gifts with the scents of the season. The secret lies in using certain essential oils.

Before you start choosing DIY gifts to make for the holidays or making products to keep in your own home, you need to make a list of the seasonal scents to use.

While this doesn’t cover all possibilities, it is a great list to start with.

Recreate Distinctive Christmas Scents using Essential Oils

Cinnamon Essential Oil

Cinnamon essential oil tops the list of scents to use during the holidays. You’ll find that cinnamon always seems to be one of the main ingredients while creating distinctive Christmas blends to use in a diffuser and even for making gifts to give during this season.

Not only is cinnamon essential oil great in the winter and for holidays like Christmas and Hanukkah, but it can also work great in the fall with Thanksgiving-themed gifts.

Cinnamon goes with so many different blend combinations, helping it to smell like baked goods, snickerdoodle cookies, a winter forest, and lots more.

Peppermint essential oil smells just like peppermint candy canes and can be used by itself in your diffuser to recreate this traditional Christmas scent.

This is also a very versatile scent and is great for combining with a few other essential oils to create an assortment of essential oil blends that are reminiscent of the season.

Adding just a drop or two of essential oils from the spicy or fruity aroma families will give you different variations of the basic Peppermint Candy Cane Essential Oil Blend.

Sweet Orange Essential Oil

Surprised? Many people are when they hear that sweet orange essential oil is one of the popular Christmas scents.

The fact is Sweet Orange is one of the top scents to use during the holidays and can be found in a lot of different essential oil blend recipes.
Citrus fruits are often at their peak during this season, so when you smell sweet and fragrant Christmas treats or the winter forest you often also smell citrus fruits like orange and lemon.

Sweet orange essential oil is often added when creating distinctive seasonal blends that remind you of freshly cut Christmas trees, a winter forest, a day of sledding, or sitting by the fire in a cabin.

It’s a major ingredient in these Christmas diffuser Blends:

Assorted Scents From The Spicy Aroma Family

Essential oils with scents from the spicy aroma family are popular during the colder fall and winter months. There are a few that are especially popular during the Holiday season.

Cinnamon is one of the more popular seasonal scents from the spicy aroma family. It is used to create several Christmas diffuser blends.

Other popular essential oils from the spicy aroma family are nutmeg and clove.

These three essential oils are used in a variety of DIY gifts and homemade items, either alone or in blends.

Essential oils from the spicy aroma family also add a touch of spice when used with woody scents like fir, cassia, and cedarwood for blends that smell like Christmas trees and the forest during the winter season.

The beauty of recreating Christmas scents with essential oils is that in addition to being easy and affordable, you also get the health benefits of the oils that you use.
