Herbal TeaHealing herbal teas do double duty during the freezing cold days of winter. They warm you up while also giving you the benefits of the herbs that you add to the tea.

But of course, you don’t have to restrict yourself to drinking healing herbal teas only in winter. They are great for any time of the year. Just brew a cup of herbal tea and let it cool. Add a few cubes of ice and you have a delicious, healing, refreshing drink to enjoy on a hot summer’s day.

And because these teas do not contain any caffeine, you can drink it at any time of the day or night too. Unlike coffee or even regular tea, healing herbal teas will not keep you up at night.

Different types of herbal teas can be made using assorted herbs. These teas are made by steeping the flowers or leaves of that particular herb.
While there is a wide assortment of herbal teas to choose from, some of them tend to have more healing properties than others.

Check out these few herbal teas that taste delicious and are packed full of health benefits.Cup of Chamomile Tea

1. Chamomile Tea

Chamomile tea is one of the most recognizable of all healing herbal teas. It is made by steeping the chamomile herb in warm water.

Chamomile tea tastes delicious, is easy to flavor with honey and other additives, and offers a wealth of benefits.

It is so versatile too. You can enjoy chamomile tea hot or cold, flavored with lemon or milk and sugar or with spices such as cinnamon or turmeric.

Health Benefits of Chamomile Herbal Tea

Provides Migraine Relief – One of the lesser known health benefits of chamomile tea is that it can help with headache and migraine pain. By drinking chamomile tea to ease the pain, you have an effective remedy that is good for you and prevents you from being addicted to painkillers. Chamomile tea is most effective if taken as soon as the migraine symptoms start as opposed to when you already have a full-blown migraine.

Reduces Stress & Anxiety – If you have trouble sleeping, one of the best things you can do is drink a cup of chamomile tea shortly before you go to bed. Chamomile has properties that can relax you and soothe your mind and body. A cup of this healing herbal tea will reduce stress and anxiety, which also helps you to sleep better. It works like a charm after a hot bath.

Soothes Stomach Cramps – Stomach cramps may be caused because of several different reasons, from indigestion problems to menstrual cramps. If you struggle with chronic stomach cramps, drink a cup of chamomile herbal tea. It will settle your stomach and help to ease the pain, especially with cramps related to your menstrual period.

Calms Allergy Symptoms – Finally, you can drink more chamomile tea and get help with your allergies. It has many healing properties that are very effective at reducing allergies and side effects from seasonal allergies. Drinking 2-3 cups of chamomile tea a day is the best way to get allergy or asthma help from this type of herbal tea.

2. Ginger Tea

Ginger tea provides fast relief from all sorts of digestive issues, from tummy aches to nausea and vomiting.

Ginger root is easy to grow in your backyard. If gardening is not your thing, you can buy ground ginger and add it to your tea ball for the freshest taste.

Health Benefits of Ginger Herbal Tea

Alleviates Nausea – Ginger is one of the best natural remedies for nausea. It is safe to have when you are pregnant, which means you can drink ginger tea while you are pregnant. This is great news since many Western medicines are not allowed during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. It can also ease a sore stomach from an illness like the cold or flu, or after eating something that irritated your stomach.

Helps With Digestion – Not only does ginger tea help ease nausea, but it also soothes the stomach other sources of indigestion, from chronic indigestion to heartburn, acid reflux, and bowel movement issues. All of this can be helped with some ginger tea.

Reduces Inflammation – Ginger tea naturally has anti-inflammatory properties, similar to many other healing herbal teas on this list. This makes it a great choice for managing the painful symptoms of arthritis. Drink at least 2 to 3 cups of ginger tea a day and follow your doctor’s other recommendations to help manage your arthritis pain and swelling.

Eases Muscle Pain – Muscle pain can be relieved naturally with ginger tea, which is a much better option than taking those harsh over-the-counter or prescription pain medications, many of which are highly addictive. 2 to 3 cups of ginger tea a day will help ease muscle pain thanks to the anti-inflammatory properties of this herb.

Reduces the Risk of Heart Disease – Heart disease is a risk for many older adults, but especially those with high blood pressure. Ginger tea has also shown to be effective at reducing cholesterol and high blood pressure. It also reduces your risk of developing diabetes.

3. Turmeric Tea

Turmeric is one of the hottest trends right now in the natural health and general health niches. So many people are looking for ways to be healthier, and turmeric is a great option. This spice does more than just flavor curries. It also imparts the curry with its healing properties. Take a look at how turmeric tea can benefit you.

Health Benefits of Turmeric Herbal Tea

It also helps with other gastrointestinal problems including ulcers or Crohn’s disease.

Improves Cardiovascular Health –One of the top health benefits of turmeric tea and why it is often considered a healing tea is that it can help to improve your cardiovascular health by lowering your cholesterol and blood pressure. By doing this, you are able to naturally reduce your risk of heart disease and cardiovascular disease.

Cup of herbal tea4. Lemon Balm Tea

Lemon balm tea is made from the lemon balm plant, using the flowers for the tea leaves. If you love gardening, you can grow the plant in your backyard and make it directly from the flowers, or you can get lemon balm leaves or tea bags already prepared for you.

Lemon balm tea is a really good tea to have early in the morning when you need a little pick-me-up, or as something to simply detox and refresh your body. Here are some other health benefits of drinking lemon balm tea.

Health Benefits of Lemon Balm Herbal Tea

Overcomes Insomnia – Like many herbal teas, lemon balm tea can be really helpful if you have trouble sleeping. This is for a variety of reasons, but often because of how well it can calm your mind and body (more on this below). Lemon balm tea also helps manage muscle cramps and emotional stress, which can also contribute to your sleeping problems.

Relaxes Your Mind – As mentioned in the previous section, lemon balm also helps to relax and calm down your mind. Perhaps you have a lot of work or financial stress, are overwhelmed by all your responsibilities at home, or are dealing with a major decision and having difficulty with it. Drinking lemon balm tea will help you de-stress and sleep a little better.

Makes You More Alert – Not only does lemon balm tea help with insomnia, but it can also work the other way and make you more alert when you drink it in the morning. A cup of lemon balm tea when you wake up can boost your energy and make it easier to concentrate.

Nourishes the Skin– Lemon balm tea is also great for your skin! The herb is known as a potent anti-aging agent. It is often used in skin care cosmetics for keeping the skin looking younger and softer. If you are struggling with early signs of aging, try drinking more lemon balm tea to smooth out those wrinkles and prevent more from forming prematurely.

5. Ginseng Tea

Ginseng is a type of herb that grows as a perennial plant. While it is often found as a supplement you can take as needed, you can also get it in the herb form. In this form, you are able to make a tea from it, or you can purchase ginseng tea bags.

Health Benefits of Ginseng Herbal Tea

There are many ways ginseng can help to heal your body, from menstrual issues to helping with cancer and low blood pressure. Here are some different ways ginseng is an excellent healing herb:

Lowers Blood Pressure – If you struggle with high blood pressure, diet and exercise are often recommended. However, another good option is to drink ginseng every day. It not only naturally lowers your blood pressure but also boosts your energy so you can go get some much-needed exercise.

Fights Obesity – Obesity is something many people struggle with and have difficulty managing. If you want to lose some weight, you can get a jump on shedding the pounds with a little ginseng tea every day. It provides a natural appetite suppressant, reducing how much you eat overall and battling those cravings.

Reduces Menstrual Issues – Ginseng has also been known to provide a cooling effect in the body. Among the different aches and pains it can help with, ginseng is an excellent herbal tea to turn to when you deal with a lot of painful menstrual cramps. It can also handle other side effects, like lessen your menstrual headaches.

Stimulates Your Brain – Another health benefit to drinking ginseng tea is the fact that it actually stimulates your brain cells. This allows you to improve your cognitive abilities, including having better concentration and focus, and improving your memory as well.

Healing Herbal Teas

Some other herbal teas to try for healing purposes include peppermint, oolong, black, green, and dandelion tea.
