With summer just around the corner, it’s time to pack away those clunky winter boots and slip your feet into a pair of delicate, strappy, open-toed sandals.

A great way to get your feet ready for sandal season is by pampering them with this delightful homemade foot scrub with pomegranate seed oil and essential oil.

This foot scrub recipe uses a combination of ingredients that cleanses, softens, and promotes healing of the feet while delivering myriad health benefits by way of the soles of the feet.  All ingredients are natural with no preservatives or chemicals.Collage of pomegranate, bottle of skin cream and barefeet

Ingredients:

1/2 cup Himalayan Pink Salt
1/4 cup Raw Honey
1 tablespoon Pomegranate Seed Oil
3 drops Sweet Orange Essential Oil or a combo of 2 drops orange and 1 drop nutmeg oil

How to Make Your Own Foot Scrub With Pomegranate Seed Oil

Mix all ingredients thoroughly and store in a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid. I prefer using a dark-colored glass jar as it prevents the light from affecting the essential oil used in the scrub.

To use, gently massage clean feet with this luxurious, sweet-smelling foot scrub-cum-lotion. Give extra attention to problem areas, especially your heels.

Massage for about 5-10 minutes and leave the scrub on your feet for a few minutes more.

The longer you allow the scrub-cum-lotion to soak in, the softer and smoother your feet will be… and the better you’ll feel.

A few quick words about the ingredients used

It does help to know a little bit more about each of the ingredients used in any skin scrub.

Himalayan Pink Salt – I prefer using salt instead of sugar when making a foot scrub. Salt grains tend to be larger and rougher, which makes them more effective for the skin on the feet. For face, hand, and neck scrubs, I prefer to use sugar, which has smaller, finer grains.

Raw Honey – Raw honey acts as a gentle exfoliator while also nourishing the skin. Adding honey to this foot scrub takes the skin-smoothening effects to the next level.

Pomegranate Seed Oil – The benefits of this carrier oil deserve a whole section by itself, which I have included below.  You can also add any other skin-friendly carrier oil. Read more about carrier oils and their benefits.

Sweet Orange Essential Oil – Sweet orange essential oil gives the foot scrub a slightly citrusy aroma. The combination of citrus and pomegranate smells absolutely refreshing. You can substitute it with any of these essential oils that are good for the skin.

Amazing Benefits of Pomegranate Seed Oil for the Skin

The seeds of the pomegranate fruit are cold-pressed to obtain pomegranate seed oil. The cold-pressed oil has a soft amber color and a refreshing, fruity aroma.

Pomegranate seed oil is nutrient-rich and used in a variety of cosmetic applications. It is its regenerative properties that make it so useful in many skincare products, from moisturizers and massage oils to shower gels and soaps.

Here’s a snapshot of the many amazing benefits of pomegranate seed oil for the skin:

The oil’s regenerative properties help reverse skin damage and stimulate the generation of new skin that looks smoother and younger. Its ability to erase signs of aging makes pomegranate seed oil a popular ingredient in anti-aging creams.

The anti-inflammatory properties of the oil calm redness and irritation of the skin and provide soothing relief from the sting of sunburn, and other skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.

Pomegranate seed oil is also known for its antioxidant properties that help promote the production of collagen, making it perfect for mature aging skin too.

When used in massage oil, in skin creams, or in DIY foot scrub recipes, the pomegranate seed oil gets absorbed deeply into the skin, moisturizing it from within without leaving behind any greasy residue. The oil is suitable for all skin types.
